Dollar Store Organizing...

So I am trying to see how far I can go on dollar store finds to help get my life organized. To start, a week or so ago I went and bought all the glass spice jars they had a $1.00 a piece. I have to go back and get more because they only had 10 but it is a start.

I haven't decided how I am going to organize yet once I have all my spices in these jars but I have a idea. I probably won't organize them until we get moved though. When I do I will show a picture of what I do with them.

While I was doing this, I then thought of one thing I could do that would save money. Instead of buying the cinnamon and sugar spice, now you can make your own at any time as you get low. You can probably think of a few other things as well that you can make of your own such as a secret spice and have it all in one jar with easy access and more cost effective.

Look for more ways to organize using dollar store finds in the future :). I have come a long ways and still have a long ways to go to get my life organized but it is coming along. It is slowly making life a little more easier and less stressful. Just gets overwhelming sometimes when you look at the mountain of things you have to organize. Knocking it out a little at a time makes it happen instead of just being held in your head with things you want to do but just don't take the time to do.

Where has the time gone?

Wow! I promise I am trying to get this blog going. Life has been so crazy. I will have time here soon as we move. So much has happened since my last blog post. My husband came home from Afghanistan and we have been spending lots of family time. We will be moving to Hattiesburg MS soon.  We are hoping to find a house to buy and hopefully that house will have a lot more natural light and I can get really crafty with nice pictures for the blog.

I found the perfect house today and I am praying it will still be available in a few months. I got a feeling it won't be it is priced to sell and is so cute. It isn't as big as we were wanting but it was custom built and just so cute that suddenly that doesn't matter. I think we have room for add ons too. But I am getting ahead of myself because it is very possible it won't be available :(. Cross your fingers.

Making Ornaments with the kids

I bet you were wondering when I was going to get this blog going huh! I am just now getting time to start working on it. We are still waiting for daddy to get home from the deployment and the kids and I are spending the holidays with just the three of us so I have lined up some quality time with them. Today we made a attempt a making a pinterest craft with a twist :). Basically we just took the dough recipe on pinterest for many handmade ornaments and made our own ornaments using cookie cutters.

The recipe we used is :

2 Cups of Flour
1/2 of Salt
1/2 of water

Bake at 220 degrees for 1 hour

Make sure to mix everything in a bowl. It makes the dough easier to become dough. I also roll it in a little flour after it becomes dough because that gets some of the stickiness off.  Don't forget to use a straw and poke a whole in the dough before putting them in the oven so you have a place for your ribbon or string to go through.

Let the kids use cookie cutters or design something there selves.  We did this again over the weekend with my son's friends and they had a blast using their imagination along with the cookie cutters.

Once you are done baking them let them cool really well. Once they are cool you can have them paint them and then once they are dry you can have them use clear protected spray.

I would love to see your creations using this recipe. Feel free to send email using my contact button showing me a picture and I will post pictures along with this post.
