Making Ornaments with the kids

I bet you were wondering when I was going to get this blog going huh! I am just now getting time to start working on it. We are still waiting for daddy to get home from the deployment and the kids and I are spending the holidays with just the three of us so I have lined up some quality time with them. Today we made a attempt a making a pinterest craft with a twist :). Basically we just took the dough recipe on pinterest for many handmade ornaments and made our own ornaments using cookie cutters.

The recipe we used is :

2 Cups of Flour
1/2 of Salt
1/2 of water

Bake at 220 degrees for 1 hour

Make sure to mix everything in a bowl. It makes the dough easier to become dough. I also roll it in a little flour after it becomes dough because that gets some of the stickiness off.  Don't forget to use a straw and poke a whole in the dough before putting them in the oven so you have a place for your ribbon or string to go through.

Let the kids use cookie cutters or design something there selves.  We did this again over the weekend with my son's friends and they had a blast using their imagination along with the cookie cutters.

Once you are done baking them let them cool really well. Once they are cool you can have them paint them and then once they are dry you can have them use clear protected spray.

I would love to see your creations using this recipe. Feel free to send email using my contact button showing me a picture and I will post pictures along with this post.
